Limits

Charles Epps/Angel

If anyone ever asked Charles Eppes is he believed in supernatural, the answer would be a solid “No”. And that would be true- the term “believe” is inapplicable when it comes to solid knowledge. He knew enough not to invite people in at night, not to enter the sewers alone and avoid cemeteries. He knew his limits. That's why his models worked so well- Eppes knew when to impose limits.
That's why after seeing Russel Winters' schedule, he closed the leather-bound book and slid it towards Don.
-No.-
-No?-
-I'm not going to help you with this case. And I don't think you should push it further.-
-Charlie, we already have a suspect, Angel O'Leary, who was reported to threaten him before. We only need something against him!-
-Don, I'm sure that even if he is guilty, he did the society a great favor. No.-
Elder Eppes brother looked at him in amazement.
-Charlie, you say you're not helping to put the bad guy behind the bars?-
-I believe the bad guy is scattered in the wind already.-
Don didn't answer. They never talked about it again.
